INSIA's Search Bar is designed to accept natural language keywords and present Visualizations in the form of charts or in a table format. But that's not all. You can do much more using the search bar as follows:
Tracking and monitoring pre-build or custom KPIs and Metrics
Categorizing metric data with dimensions to get multiple views of your single metric
Adding filters such as date, time, and geo-filters
Creating data stories (Reports & Dashboards)
The search bar can accept Metrics or KPIs, Operators, and Dimensions:
Metric: A metric, in business terms, is a quantifiable measure that business users track to judge the performance of a business process. In Simple words, Monitoring Metrics or KPIs(Key performance indicators) helps businesses to assess their business activities.
Operators: Operators are functions that help you perform specific mathematical and logical analyses of your business data. Operators in business analysis are of paramount importance because they help you get hidden information from them. Operators can range from simple mathematical operations all the way to advance time analyses. Operators are depicted with a gear symbol to distinguish it from other data sets.
Dimensions: Data in a metric is grouped from multiple sources, dimensions categorize metric data into specific labels to enable business users to understand data and ask questions. Dimensions bring order to a metric’s data and give a dissected view of the information. With Dimensions, you can deeply analyze your metrics and understand which element is adding maximum value to your overall metric.
Using the combination of Metrics, Operators, and Dimensions is the best way to get to analyze your data. Let me show you an example with a GIF:
In the above GIF:
'Top' is an Operator
'Sales' is a Metric
'Month' or ' Day of the Week' is a Time Dimension
As you would have noticed, the search bar understands logical speech in the form of keywords. When you type a certain metric the platform automatically recommends the next best cut or asks for your input to proceed - when 'Top' is typed on the search bar the platform asks for a value. This value is not restricted and you are free to type in any value.

Your screen should look something like this:
Note: Make sure you are logged in to your INSIA account as the list of Metrics changes based on the data you upload to the platform. Operators and Time Dimensions are static and available Pre-Built for all users. Each of the operators has a description and GIF showing you how to use it on the search bar.
